If there's one thing that Debsoc does well, it's hold parties- and the Week Zero Welcome party was no exception.We came, we drank, we debated.

Held in the wonderfully stylish ASB Business lounge, the evening kicked off with drinks and nibblies, where new members got a chance to mingle with the executive and debsoc veterans. After a short address from Dr Julie Cogin, newbies got a taste of University debating with a demo debate on the topic "That we should have the death penalty for arsonists".

While Su-Min, Emily and Alice provided a fiery argument, the debate fell (in something of a landslide) to Dave, Bart and Marcus. The debate was then opened up to the floor, where we heard a range of very passionate opinions on the topic.
